Sake Sampling un Ginza | Japan Guide

In the Ginza area many people walking down the street seem to have a chic ambiance. If you ask why people go there, the first thing that comes to mind is shopping. Major department stores and fashion brands stand side by side. In recent years major fast fashion retailers have also appeared, ranging from accessories, food, general goods and luxury items to reasonably priced finds.

Shopping aside, the sake information center “Sake Plaza” is a good place to get all kinds of information about Japan’s sake, which is now being consumed all over the world. It is popular among curious foreigners who want to know more about sake but can’t make it to a brewery.

Recommended spot: Shin Hinomoto

If you want to experience a traditional izakaya, head to Shin Hinomoto, located under the Yurakucho railroad bridge. The appearance of the shop and its menu scream “Japan,” but it gets a lot of foreign customers and its proprietor, named Andy, is British. So you should be able to enjoy the ambiance of an izakaya without difficulty.
